Til hamingju Magni (og Eyrún)

Þetta var hreint út sagt frábær árangur! Ég held að fáir hafi átt von á því að Magni Okkar næði svona langt, síst af öllu Bandið sem áður hét Supernova.
Mér fannst orðið frekar pínlegt hvað þeir létu það í ljós þarna undir lokin, sérstaklega Gilby - og reyndar líka Tommy Lee, en það kom ekki að sök. Áhorfendur voru þeir sem sögðu sína skoðun með því að kjósa og þeir vildu MAGNA!

Þegar maður lítur yfir spjallþræðina þá eru langflestir sammála um að Magni sé stórkostlegur tónlistarmaður . Hann tekur gítarinn eins og professional, söngröddin með þeim betri og performancið bara hans, ekkert óþarfa sirkusatriði, meikupp og tattú heldur bara eins og hann er - hreinn og beinn.
Það er auðvitað frekar hæpið að dæma karakter manneskju útfrá raunveruleikasjónvarpsþætti, þar sem auðvelt er að klippa saman hegðun þína þannig að sá sem á horfir sjái tík, vitleysing, hrokagikk, dóna eða hvað sem er en það er erfiðara að klippa saman hjálpsama, hógværa manneskju sem vill öllum vel, sem er laus við hroka og tranar sér ekki fram.
Það er akkúrat sú mynd sem fólk hefur af Magna og sveimérþá ef það er ekki bara jafnmikil ástæða til að vera stoltur af því og að ná 4.sæti í Rockstar Supernova.

Það er óskandi að Magni fái að fara í tónleikaferðalagið með Húsbandinu. Það er svo greinilegt að Magni fann sig mikið betur með þeim en nokkurn tíma með Bandinu sem áður hét Supernova. Icelandair ætti nú bara að setja upp ferðir á tónleikana - ég væri sko alveg til í að mæta á þá tónleika!

Vil bara ljúka þessu með að óska Magna Okkar til hamingju með þennan árangur og Eyrúnu með að vera búin að fá manninn sinn aftur .

Hver mun vinna RockStar? Ótrúlega flott komment um Magna

Fann þessa grein á Rockband og þar sem kommentin í henni eru svo assgoti skemmtileg ákvað ég að pósta hluta úr henni hérna svo fleiri gætu notið.

"The Immigrant Song", from Led Zepplin III ran through my mind as I reviewed past performances of Magni. Magni comes from Iceland, and the lyrics, "We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow", are a fitting theme for this man. (I love the song anyway.)

Nicknamed The Iceman, Magni has remained cool under pressure, composed in his dealings with everyone on the show. But beneath the cool exterior flows a river of molten fire. Magni began his journey on Rock Star tentatively, with his first night debut performance of the Rolling Stones, "Satisfaction". Since then, he has solidly and consistently upped the ante. Magni delivers charismatic, incredible vocals, full and powerful. He retains tonality no matter the force of the vocals, never breaking note or screaming the lyrics. He can deliver softness one moment, the next infuse his delivery with intensity and emotion that permeate the studio rafters.

Magni is a performer in the style of Bono of U2, and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. He's been criticized for his stage presence. He eschews trite glam rock antics, instead he prowls the stage, fluid personification of a powerful cat. He draws on the strength of his magnificent vocal prowess to engulf the audience. Magni has stood true to himself and what he's about as an artist and musician through criticisms of his performances. He exudes an aura of knowing exactly who he is. He's not threatened by critiques into being anyone's puppet or dancing to anyone's organ grinder's box.

His amazing vocal abilities are highlighted in his performance of "I Alone", a song by Live. Magni's vocals swamped Ed Kowalczyk's, dampening the original song. Magni gives the song increased value and depth, reverberating with more emotion, making it fuller. His confidence was not destroyed when he landed in the bottom three during weeks 7 and 8; he had quite the opposite response. Week 7 he gave a mesmerizing performance of "Creep" that took my breath away, Week 8, during the elimination performance, he came out fighting, guitar in hand and sparks flying during his performance of Jimi Hendrix's, "Fire". A killer performance, he effortlessly melded with the House band and created a massive on-line buzz.

In Magni there simmers greatness, and thanks to Mark Burnett, we've been introduced to a real rock star with talent assimilating to the level of a man I've admired since the '80's from Ireland. Bono came on the music scene with a little band called U2 and has made history with his sound. Rock Star: Supernova has been an excellent venue to serve as an introduction to the incredible talent of Magni.

Þetta hér fyrir neðan er skrifað af einni/einum sem var viðstaddur upptökurnar...

Hiya cuties! Back from taping which, due to technical glitches and taping "extras" for the international viewing audience, ran over by about an hour!

Well. Another amazing show...90% because all the rockers really reached down deep and brought something extra and beautiful...but it was also made special because it was the last Sunday taping of the season, lots of hugs and emotion all around, and the audience (except for those 25 paid hotties) all seemed to be friends, family and RABID FANS, which was awesome.

Before the show: we get to see the reality show - the trials and tribulations of song selection, will Lukas fight for his song? Will Dilana fuck up her song choice? Is Magni too homesick to continue on? Who's face will Toby smash a pie into this week? All these questions are asked, and only the Lukas and Toby questions are answered: No, and Magni!

Today's format - each rocker got to choose from the ENTIRE seasons back catalogue of songs. They could do one oldie, plus...drumroll...their original song again. Yes. I know. AGAIN. So just when I start groaning...I learn that the rockers had four NEW songs slipped into the stack of oldies...and three out of four rockers went for the new tunes, thus saving us from hearing Rebel Yell or I, Alone one more time! Woohoo!!

On with the show:

The House Band decides to play a little warm up song for us before the cameras start rolling...but this time, instead of Paul singing, they announce a surprise vocalist....and it's none other than Suzie freakin' McNeil! She and OB:House, with NO PRACTICE, bust into Bohemian Rhapsody for us, and holy hot damn. Truly forgot what a powerhouse this girl is, vocally. The audience goes nuts for her. I saw cameras filming it, so maybe it'll end up on some DVD extra or something!

Okay, camera time:

Brooke informs us that the home audience has voted for one of our old rockers from this season to come back and sing one more tune, one more time...and the winner? The Dark Horse himself, Mr. Ryan Star. Yes, everyone's favorite cuddly serial murderer comes back (his mysterious open wound still covered with the "arm bandage") Perhaps he's Jack the Ripper, incapable of actually being killed, and the secret to his longevity lies beneath that mysterious bandage? What else can explain the reason I'm STILL seeing this dude? Oh, he's got the #1 song on itunes, you say? Maybe that's a more plausible reason. No matter. He rocks Back of My Car again, and even though I haven't heard that song since he got the boot, even I know the words! "It's a perfect time of night...for taking your clothes off..." Everyone loved this - the audience went mad afterwards!! Ryan fans, your boy did you proud!!

First up: Toby!
Karma Police - Radiohead
Throw it All Away - original, w/special guitarist...Magni!

Toby was pretty hot! He comes out in aviator shades and rocks Radiohead. He sounded amazing. There were a SEA of "EVS" signs (passed out by our very own rockbanders) and "RAND WAGON" signs, the entire place was humming with Toby love. For me, the Radiohead song was really good, and had high energy, but Toby didn't really take off for me until he sequed into his original - when MAGNI comes out to join him on stage. Holy freaking Moses!!!!!! These two were so god damn hot together. Magni is on guitar, hitting the cords hard, and at one point, SINKING TO HIS KNEES IN FRONT OF TOBY, offering up homeboy his guitar for Toby to play, while it was still strapped around Magni's neck. All. Kinds. of. Sexy!! Now THAT was worth paying money for - we all pogoed and sang "chemical dreaming...throwing it all away...uh oh uh oh uh oh..." Yep, its official, after hearing a song three times, you basically know all the words.

Judges: Dave - great set, just watched a rock show...but dude, when Magni dropped to his knees in front of you...you need to watch out for those camera angles! ;) T Lee - uh, yeah, I didn't know WHAT was going on there. But loved it! Gilby: thought toby lost it in the beginning of the Radiohead song, but loved it when he pulled out his full voice. Gilby echoed my sentiments, that he was disappointed to be hearing the songs AGAIN for the third time, but even so, thought Toby was GREAT! Jason: loved the comfortability Toby has on stage, and with his fellow rockers, and he's "almost erased" one of the Toby moves that he finds annoying, the "Kangorilla". Hm...don't know what that is, but whatever it is, it's almost gone. Good job Toby!!!

Next up...my boy Lukas...
Fix You - Coldplay
Headspin - original

In a taped package early in the show, Lukas told us that he was singing Fix You to his father - with whom he had a rough relationship. He hoped he could "fix it". I just can't count the ways in which Lukas makes my head spin, y'all. I love this dude. Lukas' set was pretty mellow compared to Toby's - Fix You starts out slow but then builds and builds and Lukas just lets it rip - vocally stunning. Visually captivating. And then there's his freakin' falsetto. Lukas fans, our boy really brings the emotion. Then for the third time...Headspin. Lukas is the only one of the rockers to change up his original, this time doing a stripped down version. Well, even I, who have heard/seen him sing it this way on youtube videos...got chills. I thought it was the most beautiful we've heard him. I could go on, but all I'd end up doing is typing one word over and over: ROCKSTAR!!

Judges: Dave confessed, he didn't know at first if he could listen to Lukas' voice for two hours...but after hearing so many facets of his voice...not only could he listen for two hours he'd buy tickets right now. T Lee can't even speak. He says in a hoarse voice - "you freak me out, that's all I can say...I'm freaked out..." Translation: T Lee is seriously in love, folks. He's verklempt and passes the mic to Gilby...who is drawing up the adoption papers right now to adopt Lukas practically! Lots of affection when he tells Lukas how amazed he is at still hearing new things in Lukas' voice. Called him "fearless, and that's what rock n roll is all about." Jason: that was the song, done just that way, that made Lukas stand out from 12,000 others he auditioned with, and now everybody gets to hear what got him there. YAY LUKAS!!!! Audience had a lot of Rossi Posse signs, but not as many as the EVS signs.

Next up: my girl Dilana!
Roxanne - The Police
Supersoul - original, with special backup singers....Magni, Lukas and Toby!!

Truth be told, I thought we could almost count our girl out after the last few weeks drama, calf injury, Psycho Killer rendition, etc etc...well. How can one person, with ONE SONG, erase all of that, and put herself BACK IN THE FUCKING GAME?? Ask Dilana, because homechick simply nails Roxanne. From the first two notes, she will rock you back on your heels, stop your heart and make you a BELIEVER again. I loved loved loved this. The audience MELTS and then becomes hers. And I'm suddenly afraid for my boy Lukas. Dilana is back. On last chorus, her fellow rockers take the stage and something of an AI sing-along ensues - sweet, fun and cute! Her original...now that I've heard it several times...has a cool and memorable verse and she rocks her song hard. She sports a black cane, but after a bit, tosses it aside, and proceeds to come into the audience, go up into the bleachers, sing to EVERYONE, then sings right in Supernova's faces, one at a time, putting herself BACK in their minds and hearts. GO DILANA!!

Judges: Dave: blown away by Roxanne, and proceeding her original with a slow song made the original really pop. Tommy - you touched EVERYbody, beautiful! Wish we could have put you on a cherry-picker so you could sing to the balcony. "We love you!" Gilby: Great set, you have such an amazing recognizable voice, everyone who hears it will remember it for the rest of their lives." Jason: take care of that leg! Great job!

Last up: man of the year - MAGNI!
Hush - Deep Purple
Original song

I LOVE MAGNI!!!! He played guitar on Hush, and my GOD, he and the House Band need to drop EVERYTHING and tour right now. Forget the Supernova tour. They are so tight, and when they each pair off and trade guitar licks, *poof*! It's very masculine and hard - I am looking at MUSICIANS...perfect look and sound. Magni was awesome. He and Raphael share a mic and belt out the chorus, and again, *poof*! Hush is hard rockin' tune, as is his original, so Magni rocks us yet again - an dthe audience throws devil horns and pogos for him.

Judges: Well...yikes! Tommy says that he really dug the Deep Purple song...but he doesn't think Magni's original is memorable :( Dave concurs - he can remember words or chorus from Dilana, Lukas and Toby's originals...but not Magni's. T Lee got BOOED long and loud by studio audience. ALL give props to Magni's singing and playing on Hush. Jason gives Magni a shout out about a 5-hour jam session that they all had last night - he loved playing with Magni. Jason commends him for his amazing versatility - playing with Toby, singing with Dilana, playing guitar on his own song. He's impressed. But over all...SN was the most lukewarm for Magni.

So...that was the show! We were told that on the finale, the bottom two vote-getters are going to have a sing-off (I think - the applause was very loud when Brooke was explaining this) and one of them will be sent home. And then the final three will sing for the prize!

I have NO IDEA who is going to win this.

Thank you so much for the reviews of the performances tonight. Leave it to Magni to show his brilliance, caring attitude, and musical genius by playing or singing with the other contestents. He is a class act, and whether he wins or loses this competition, he will be the winner in the long run. I can't wait to hear him do hush, and Dilana do Roxanne. This doesn't surprise me at all. As I said, he is a real class act. I have had many musicians as friends in my lifetime, and you can see when the music reaches their souls..Magni is one of these. Like Jerry Garcia as the spiritual father of the Grateful Dead, I can see Magni in that role too. That may sound really corny, but there is something about Magni that is very old. I don't even think he has even come close to reaching his zenith yet. When he does, I can't imagine what he will put out then.

Magni syngur síðastur

Engin smá sigling á Magna :o)

Já, þetta er nú orðið alveg ótrúlegt ævintýri hjá honum Magna, alveg frábært hvað þetta hefur gengið vel. Þó hann dytti út fyrstur í næsta þætti verður að segjast að árangurinn er alveg meiriháttar.

Samt hefur maður einhvern veginn engar áhyggjur af því að gott gengi stígi honum til höfuðs. Þó það sé auðvitað ekki hægt að segja að maður þekki hann þá sýnist manni á öllu að hann sé með báða fætur kirfilega á jörðinni og sé ekki kominn með neinar súperstjörnugrillur. Ég vona bara að hann fái útúr þessu öllu saman akkúrat það sem HANN vill.

Annars er ég ennþá ferlega pirruð vegna framkomu Gilby í Supernova laginu.
Á spjallþráðunum tala margir um að það hafi vantað chemistry-ið á milli þeirra þegar Magni söng með þeim. Hvernig getur verið chemistry milli þeirra þegar einn hljómsveitarmeðlimurinn hunsar annan alveg gjörsamlega? Og ef það er ekkert chemistry er ólíklegt að fólk upplifi Magna sem gott fit fyrir hljómsveitina...  Var Gilby þá að gera þetta viljandi "sjáiði öll hvað hann passar illa með okkur" til þess að hann fengi ekki aftur þessa ofurkosningu sem hann hefur fengið undanfarið? Kannski pirrar það hann að hann hafi ekki getað sent Magna heim fyrr?

Flott hjá Icelandair - ljótt hjá Gilby

Ætli þeir hafi getað reddað miðum á sjóið?
Annað væri frekar fúlt...!

Væri ekkert smá til í að vera þarna - örugglega geðveik upplifun - sama hvað manni finnst um hina rokkarana, bara geðveikt að vera í fjörinu og stuðinu.

Er búin að vera að melta þáttinn í gær og er eiginlega orðin ferlega fúl útí Gilby Clarke. Hvernig hann dissaði Magna á sviðinu í SN laginu í gær var alveg útí hött. Horfði á þetta aftur á Rockstar síðunni og þetta er alveg út í hróa.
Á spjallþráðunum vilja sumir meina að hann hafi þurft að einbeita sér svona að gítarnum til að fipast ekki, vona eiginlega að það sé málið því hitt er argasti dónaskapur!
Það hvarflaði hreinlega að mér að kjósa EKKI næsta þriðjudag ég varð svo fúl!
Hvaða rugl er þetta eiginlega?

Síðasta kosningin á þriðjudaginn

Og svo getur maður farið að sinna heimili og lærdómi aftur - ég hlakka eiginlega bara til!

Var nú að vona að það yrði ekki kosning, skil ekki alveg hvernig þeir ætla að hafa fyrirkomulagið á þáttunum í næstu viku - eða verða 2 þættir? Verður performance þáttur á þriðjudaginn og svo elimination þáttur á miðvikudaginn? Ætla þeir þá að senda einhvern "heim" og kynna svo sigurvegarann?
Veit þetta einhver?

Ég verð að viðurkenna að ég átti ekki von á því að þeir sendu Storm heim á undan Dilönu - mikið þykir mér það stórfurðulegt! Sérstaklega miðað við hvað þeir virðast rosalega hrifnir af Storm.
Meina, allir búnir að lofa að vera backup hljómsveit fyrir hana - hummm, af hverju velja þeir hana þá ekki bara?

Skil þetta ekki alveg...

Enda er ég ekki Supernova gaurarnir (þökkum öllum heilögum fyrir það!) - þeir vita vonandi hvað þeir vilja.

Mikið er maður nú stoltur af honum Magna  - í mínum huga er hann kominn Alla leið.

Magni í 3. sæti þegar fyrstu tölur voru birtar

Áfram Magni!

Ég hef kannski verið helst til svartsýn í gær, vona það alla vega.

Nú er boltinn í höndum allra þeirra sem fíla það sem Magni hefur verið að gera og vilja gefa honum tækifæri til að taka þetta alla leið.
Hvort hann vinnur eða ekki er svo í höndum Tommy Lee og félaga en við getum gefið honum færi á að komast eins langt og mögulegt er.

Þeir sem eiga erfitt með að vaka ættu bara að smella sér í tölvuna strax í fyrramálið, skipta um "time zone" á tölvunni sinni og kjósa eins og vitleysingar. Ég fer samt varlega í að treysta þeim atkvæðum því það hlýtur að vera hægt að loka fyrir atkvæði sem koma á röngum tíma frá ákveðnum löndum.

Því ætla ég að skora á ALLA sem þetta lesa að rífa sig upp klukkan 2 í nótt og KJÓSA! Þó það sé ekki nema í klukkutíma - en helst bara alla 4 tímana!

Magni sáttur með eigin frammistöðu

Uggandi um Magna :(

Úff mér líst nú ekki alltof vel á útlitið fyrir Magna Okkar eftir að hafa lesið skemmarana (spoilerana) á Rockband.com - ath! EKKI smella á þennan hlekk ef þú vilt ekki vita hvernig flutningurinn gekk!

Nú er bara að kjósa eins og við eigum lífið að leysa! Ef Magni endar í 3 neðstu þessa vikuna er hætt við að hann fari heim.

Eina sem mér sýnist að gæti mögulega farið á undan honum er Dilana og maður veit ekki hvort þeir tími að láta dramadrottninguna fara strax því stælarnir í henni trekkja auðvitað að áhorfendur.

Þeir sem vilja kíkja á raunveruleikaþáttinn geta séð hann hérna.

Það lítur út fyrir aðra vökunótt á morgun... Og þið sem kusuð ekki síðast: Ykkur munar EKKERT um eina nótt .

Kynþáttafordómar - af hverju?

Ég get ekki séð af hverju það er verra að skipta fólki eftir kynþætti en að skipta þeim eftir kynjum. Mér þykir eiginlega meira misrétti að skipta í lið eftir kyni þar sem karlmenn hafa - oftast - líkamlega yfirburði yfir konum.
Þegar skipt er eftir kynþætti eru kynin væntanlega bæði í hverju liði og allir ættu að hafa jafna möguleika á sigri - eða hvað?
Er svo ekki hvort sem er "merge" í miðri þáttaröð? Þar sem liðin blandast saman í 2 lið?

Kannski er ég bara svona siðblind en ég get ekki séð af hverju þetta eru kynþáttafordómar. Gæti séð það ef það væri einhver líkamlegur eða andlegur munur á kynþáttum en hann er ekki til staðar - eða hvað? Væru miklu frekar fordómar ef einhver segði "Asíubúar geta aldrei unnið einir í lið af því þeir eru svo aumir" eða "spánskættaðir eiga ekki séns af því þeir eru vitlausari en hinir" eða eitthvað í þessum dúr.

Þætti gaman að heyra ef einhver getur útskýrt fyrir mér hvernig þetta eru kynþáttafordómar.

Verð að bæta því við að Mark Burnett er svo sannarlega konungur raunveruleikaþáttanna. Þetta er alveg snilldarbragð hjá honum. Áhorf á Survivor hefur mjög líklega minnkað þegar komið er á 13. eða 14. seríu og hvað er betra en smá controversy til að ná í betra áhorf?
